moving through.

2023.

Presented through the 2023 Spark Photography Festival, moving through presents a handful of 35mm film photographs taken between 2020 and 2023. The stills presented in this collection capture quiet reflections on moving through the grief, learning, disruption, and calm that came (and continues to come) with living in COVID times. They tell a story of a person who both struggles and refuses to move on, from a pandemic that is not yet over (2024).

noticing.

2023.

Noticing presents a collection of works that represent snippets of a year spent in Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg Territory. Time spent noticing, looking closer, noticing more, looking up, noticing more, stopping for a sip of coffee, and then my coffee going cold because I’m in the garden in my crocs and underwear, picking slugs and noticing once again.

This work further reflects a deep shift in my art practice. Away from production, repetitive strain, reproducing, and scaling up. Towards less. Tending to single pieces over long periods of time and exploring new mediums. Revisiting old work. Same as before in the way of drawing my ideas and inspiration from the trees, birds, and other non-human beings who live here. Different in the way of leaning deeper into the process of making art– finding value and meaning in the relationships built, lessons learned, and joy felt, as I move from concept to “finished” piece.
